We will have a number of crafts that can be made by all ages with all materials provided. They will focus on the Advent theme and will include Advent wreaths (easy and more complicated versions), an Advent calendar to count down the days, and ornaments or decorations as well. You can make one item or several.

Take a moment to sign Christmas cards for our shut-in members and perhaps write a little note to some of them. We do this every year and the cards are always appreciated by the recipients. Browse a display of books from our library that focus on an Advent theme. You will be able to check them out right in Lawther Hall and take them home to enjoy.

In addition, this year we will provide an opportunity to help with a craft project to brighten the days of others. We will make table decorations to be used by the Metanoia Project, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe secure overnight respite during the winter months for hard-core homeless people unwilling or unable to access shelters. The Metanoia Project provides shelter, meals, personal care items and clothing. It also provides access to social services and works to strengthen the personal skills of persons trying to change their life situation. A specific kind of plastic container (like the ones used for nuts from Costco) is needed for this project. Look for the sample in the Atrium to see if you have any at home that you could donate.
