Music Events

Special Events

Throughout the year, Lakewood Presbyterian Church hosts special musical events either as worship or in addition to the Sunday worship experience. These events give members and visitors an opportunity to experience the glory of God through moving musical expressions by fellow church members and guest musicians.

BellsAnnual Benefit Concert

Each year, the musical groups of LPC offer a Sunday Worship experience filled with singing and playing  for the glory of God. The various choirs, handbell choirs and instrumental groups play selections they’ve prepared especially for the event, and a freewill offering is taken for the benefit of a pre-selected mission or organization. The 2010 benefit concert will raise money for the Lakewood Charitable Assistance.

Weeks Memorial Concert

The Weeks Memorial Concert is a major choral work performed annually in memory of Helen and Gardner Weeks in lieu of a traditional worship service. Oftentimes the choir is accompanied by a string ensemble or small orchestra. It is a Sunday of soul-stirring music. Past pieces have included Haydn’s Missa Brevis, Vivaldi’s Gloria ,and John Rutter’s Requiem. This year we will bring the favorite REQUIEM of John Rutter on Sunday, April 18 during the 10:30 worship hour. Instruments will include harp, flute, oboe, timpani, glockenspiel, cello, and organ.

Good Company

Good Company, LPC’s choir in residence, performs two concerts a year; the first is usually a holiday concert offered in December or early January, and the second takes place in the Spring. Good Company is conducted by LPC’s own chancel choir director, Karen Weaver. You can learn more about them and the repertoire on their website:
