Music Programs

Children & Youth

Children of Note

A music experience designed for the 3-5 year old. The children in the nursery spend some time each Sunday morning with a trained expert in early childhood music.  This activity prepares them for singing and understanding rhythm. Directors: Natalie Welty and Sara Lindberg.

Childrens ChoirChildren in Grades 1 – 6

These children have the opportunity to sing in the Carol-Crusader Choir. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings from 9:50 – 10:20am in the Hook Music Room. There are many Orff (barred instruments made of both wood and metal played with a mallet) and percussion instruments to enhance the children’s experiences.  Directors: Tara Webb. Dorothy Lewis is accompanist.

Youth in grades 7-12

Youth spend half the year in the Chapel Orchestra (percussion instruments are available for those who have no instrument of choice).  (See pic Violins2.jpg)The other half year is spent ringing handbells in the Chapel Bell Choir. Orchestra and bells meet on Sunday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 am in the Hook Music Room. Directors: Tara Webb, Bob Paraska, Dorothy Lewis, and Tim Miller

Chancel Bell Choir

Rings in worship on a monthly basis. Rehearsals are on Monday evening at 7:30 in the Hook Music Room. Director: Bob Paraska.

Chancel Choir

Sings weekly in worship and also offers several major works during the season. Rehearsals are on Thursday evening at 7:30 in the Hook Music Room and Sunday morning at 10 am in the chapel. Director: Karen Weaver

Celebration Singers

This occasional singing choir for youth and adults, meets after worship to rehearse when needed.  Director: Bob Paraska with Don Shultzaberger as accompanist.

Flutes, Brass, and Strings

There are also ensembles to join for flutes and brass.  Directors: Nancy Odorizzi and Tim Miller.  A youth string quartet, the Cuatro String Quartet, is currently formed and directed by Claudia Hook.

Soloists

Members of all ages can volunteer to sing or play an instrument during the prelude before Sunday Worship or during the offertory. In addition, soloists provide special music in worship throughout the Summer worship schedule.
