Music Events

Throughout the year Lakewood Presbyterian Church hosts special musical events during a Sunday worship service and at other times.  These events give members and visitors an opportunity to experience the glory of God through moving musical expressions by fellow church members and guest musicians.

Annual Benefit Service

Each year, the musical groups of LPC offer a Sunday Worship experience filled with singing and playing  for the glory of God. The various choirs, handbell choirs and instrumental groups play selections they’ve prepared especially for the event, and a freewill offering is taken for the benefit of a pre-selected mission or organization. The 2010 benefit concert will raise money for the Lakewood Charitable Assistance.

Weeks Memorial Music Service

Every spring a major choral work performed annually in memory of Helen and Gardner Weeks during a Sunday worship service.  Often the choir is accompanied by a string ensemble or small orchestra.  It is a Sunday of soul-stirring music. Past pieces have included Haydn’s Missa Brevis, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and John Rutter’s Requiem.   The 2012 Weeks Service is scheduled for Sunday, April 22 during teh 10:30 a.m. service.

Good Company, a community choral group in residence at LPC, performs two concerts per year in January and May.  Good Company is conducted by LPC’s own chancel choir director, Karen Weaver. You can learn more about them and the repertoire on their website: www.good-co.org.
