DUE TO THE RECENT COVID SURGE, THIS CLASS IS BEING POSTPONED UNTIL MARCH.

During the month of January, we will reflect on Jesus’ command that his followers care for and about others, especially those with special needs. We will hear from professionals working in non-profit community organizations. The four-part series will begin after the worship service on Sunday, January 9 with a presentation by Dr. Cinda Gorman on the biblical and theological foundations for compassionate caring as a response to faith in God through Jesus Christ.

On Sunday, January 16, we will welcome Graham Bell, an associate at the Cleveland field office of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. Mr. Bell will share with us his work in welcoming refugees to Northeast Ohio with dignity and respect. He will also share with us opportunities for LPC to partner with this organization and their work.

On Sunday, January 23, we will welcome Kathy Hartzell, a member at Rocky River Church and recent graduate of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Kathy will share her experience ministering in the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh as well as her knowledge of prison ministries within the Presbyterian Church (USA).

On Sunday, January 30, our speaker will be Patty Napolitano, a Licensed Social Worker who has extensive experience working with organizations caring for homeless individuals and families. LPC is presently partnering with Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless and our Presbytery’s Network Advocating for Homeless Persons, providing evening meals during the severe winter months at two local temporary shelters in Ohio City.
