Giving

What We Believe

For centuries, followers of Jesus have considered themselves “stewards” of God’s good gifts. By “stewards” we mean good and faithful managers of resources gifted to us by God to use for a period of time. Jesus taught that our lives should be a blessing to others and that what we do with our resources, especially our time, skills and money, really does matter.

We believe that God’s grace and loving kindness is generously demonstrated in a beautiful, resource-filled creation that provides our needs. We must show forth our thanks for God’s generosity with our own generous sharing of our time, skills and financial resources.

What We Practice

We unapologetically encourage our members to give generously to fund our church’s mission and ministry, to care for the poor and vulnerable in our midst, and to support other worthy non-profit organizations that bring life and joy to the world.

As a community of faith, our church’s financial policy mandates that Lakewood Presbyterian Church gives away 10% of its annual income in support of other non-profit organizations that are blessing God’s people locally, nationally and globally.

Our church’s financial resources are protected by strong internal controls and are overseen by a dedicated group of members who ensure that financial policies and ethics are strictly followed.
